Fiji Airways has revealed plans to launch a new direct service between Nadi, Fiji, and Cairns, Australia, beginning on April 10, 2025. The airline will operate this route three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Passengers flying from Cairns will have the added benefit of seamless connections to Dallas/Fort Worth through Nadi, providing a quicker travel route to North America and other destinations.
This new route is part of Fiji Airways’ broader strategy to enhance connectivity and promote tourism in Northern Australia, a region celebrated for its appealing attractions and economic opportunities.
Tickets for the Nadi-Cairns flights are available now, with introductory prices starting at FJD$ 799 for Lite fares and FJD$ 899 for Value returns.
André Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized that this new connection represents a significant step in expanding their network, allowing for increased travel options for their customers.
Richard Barker, CEO of Cairns Airport, described the announcement as transformative for the local region. He noted that it opens up the South Pacific to Australians seeking new holiday destinations and enables quick one-stop access to North America via Nadi, reducing travel times to key cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco to just 16 hours, a reduction of nearly three hours compared to travel via domestic ports in Australia.
Overall, this new service not only enhances travel options for those in Fiji and Northern Australia but also positions Fiji Airways as a critical player in the international travel market, fostering stronger connections between the South Pacific and North America. This development signals promising growth for tourism and travel connectivity in the region.
