Fiji Airways Elevates Diversity with New Female Leadership

Fiji Airways is making notable progress in promoting leadership diversity with the recent appointments of two distinguished women to prominent executive positions. Anna Morris has taken on the role of Chief People Officer, while Kamal Haer has been appointed as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer.

Anna Morris, who hails from Fiji and has Rotuman heritage, brings a wealth of experience in human resources and workforce development to her new position. Since joining Fiji Airways in 2015, she has prioritized enhancing employee engagement and nurturing a positive workplace culture. Previously, Anna worked at FIJI Water, focusing on operations and performance management. She holds degrees in business and arts from Auckland University of Technology and Ecole Superior de Commerce in France and serves on the board of Food Processors Fiji Limited.

Kamal Haer, prior to this new role, held the position of Executive Manager for Strategy, Alliances, and Loyalty at Fiji Airways. In this capacity, she played a crucial role in forming partnerships with the oneworld Alliance and successfully integrating American Airlines’ loyalty program. Kamal’s leadership experience is extensive, spanning regions such as Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, and Japan. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the South Pacific and a Master of Business from RMIT University, and she currently sits on the board of Fijian Holdings Limited.

The airline underlined that these promotions reflect its commitment to nurturing local talent and enhancing gender representation in leadership positions within the aviation sector. This aligns with previous achievements where Fiji Airways exceeded the International Air Transport Association’s goal of 25 percent female employment, reaching a remarkable 46 percent representation among its workforce.

As Fiji Airways continues to demonstrate its dedication to empowering women and encouraging diversity, these leadership changes are positioned to foster innovative strategies that can enhance the airline’s performance in a competitive landscape, ultimately benefiting the broader tourism industry in Fiji. The future looks promising as Fiji Airways champions local talent and inclusivity in its corporate structure.
