Fiji Airwaves: A Game-Changer in Aviation Training

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the $160 million investment in new flight simulators reflects Fiji Airways’ confidence in the future. During the inauguration of two advanced flight simulators, Rabuka emphasized that this development signifies a significant commitment to positioning Fiji as a leading hub for aviation training in the Asia Pacific region.

He noted that the new facility is expected to attract trainees and pilots not only from Fiji but also from around the globe, further establishing the country as a center of excellence in aviation training. According to Rabuka, Fiji Airways accounts for over 65-70 percent of all visitors to Fiji, and the airline’s global marketing expenditure surpasses that of any other entity promoting travel and tourism to the nation.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the enhanced training capabilities of the Aviation Academy would uphold the highest safety and service standards, which are essential for improving the travel experience for visitors. He also underscored that these investments are in line with the Government’s broader vision for sustainable development.

Rabuka acknowledged that Fiji Airways is not only a leader in the aviation sector but also a trailblazer in environmental stewardship. He stated that the new facility would act as a catalyst for economic growth, benefitting local businesses and contributing to the overall prosperity of the nation. Furthermore, he affirmed that Fiji continues to be an attractive destination for both foreign and domestic investments, with the success of Fiji Airways in making significant investments in high-tech infrastructure highlighting the country’s strong investment climate, particularly in the aviation industry.
