Fiji Airports Soars to New Heights After COVID Setback

Fiji Airports has emerged as a significant player in the corporate sector since its establishment in 1999, according to Minister for Public Enterprises Sitiveni Rabuka.

During a recent parliamentary session discussing the Fiji Airports 2021 Annual Report, the Prime Minister praised the organization for maintaining international standards and seeking new opportunities for improvement. He noted that while the company experienced a slight loss due to the pandemic, it rebounded impressively with a profit of $49 million.

Mr. Rabuka expressed his congratulations and requested Mr. Mark Halabe and Mr. Mesake Nawari to extend appreciation to the board, management, and employees of Fiji Airports. He mentioned the corporate plan that the company is pursuing, which aligns with the recommendations provided by the Standing Committee on Social Affairs aimed at ensuring continued positive growth.

The recommendations include ongoing reviews of the Master Plan, conducting feasibility studies for Nadi and Nausori airports, increasing reserve funds beyond $85 million, and enhancing the accreditation for the Green Airport initiative. Additionally, there is a call for increased collaboration between Fiji Airways and Fiji Airports to facilitate more international flights from Nausori Airport.
