Fiji Airports recently completed a comprehensive emergency exercise that highlights its dedication to upholding top-tier safety and emergency preparedness standards, in line with regulations set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF). This important mock drill took place on Wednesday.

Fiji Airports’ Chief Executive Officer, Mesake Nawari, emphasized the significance of conducting this full-scale exercise every two years. “We engage all stakeholders to orchestrate this real-time simulated mock exercise,” he stated. The primary objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of their emergency response strategies and the readiness of personnel to effectively handle real emergencies.

In addition to the biennial full-scale exercise, Fiji Airports’ Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) conducts annual reviews, along with tabletop exercises, collectively with stakeholders. These preparations are essential to ensure that the airport’s emergency operations plan remains effective and ready for any unforeseen situations.

This proactive approach not only enhances safety protocols but also builds confidence among passengers and the community regarding the airport’s preparedness for emergencies. By continuously refining their strategies and collaborating with various stakeholders, Fiji Airports demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding both passengers and staff.

In a world where safety and emergency measures are more critical than ever, Fiji Airports is setting a commendable example in the aviation sector. Such rigorous training and exercises affirm a promise of swift and effective responses to emergencies, promoting a secured travel environment.
