Fiji 7s Icon Waisale Serevi Hospitalized: Latest on His Condition

Fiji 7s rugby legend Waisale Serevi is currently hospitalized in India due to chest pains. Serevi, who serves as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s 7s teams in India, led the women’s team to a silver medal at the Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Trophy in Nepal. He was admitted to the hospital on October 10.

Rugby India issued a message on social media wishing Serevi a speedy recovery and mentioned that an update would be provided within 24 hours. They reported that he is currently stable and in good spirits.

According to Manipal Hospital, where Serevi is being treated, a coronary angiogram revealed he has minor coronary artery disease. The hospital has stated that he is stable and is expected to be transferred out of the ICU soon.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has conveyed his best wishes for Serevi’s swift and full recovery, expressing that thoughts and prayers are with Serevi and his family.
