A taxi driver from Nadi narrowly avoided tragedy yesterday when his vehicle erupted in flames following a collision with an oncoming private car.
According to police, the 61-year-old driver was en route to Lautoka when he allegedly failed to yield to a vehicle that was turning into Nadi International Airport. Police spokesperson Wame Bautolu reported that there were no injuries resulting from the incident.
“The accident occurred around 10:30 AM. A 61-year-old driver heading towards Lautoka did not give way to the second vehicle that was making a turn into the Nadi International Airport,” said Mr. Bautolu. “The two vehicles collided, resulting in the fire in the cab heading towards Lautoka.” He added that inquiries into the crash are ongoing.
