The FCCC issued a statement highlighting Mr. Abraham’s transformative leadership, which has been dedicated to creating a regulatory framework that emphasizes fairness, consumer protection, and economic integrity, not only in Fiji but also throughout the Asia-Pacific region. His tenure has been defined by a strong commitment to protecting consumers from unfair business practices through an effective competition and consumer protection framework.
Under his guidance, the FCCC has expanded its capacity and gained recognition both nationally and internationally as a reliable competition authority. One of his notable accomplishments includes the establishment of the Pacific Islands Network of Competition, Consumer Protection, and Economic Regulators (PINCCER), which has fostered regional collaboration and enhanced regulatory standards across the Pacific.
Mr. Abraham also implemented various employee-centric initiatives, such as the iCARE program, sustainability packages, and flexible work options. His leadership was instrumental in the development of FCCC’s infrastructure and resource management, laying the groundwork for a well-prepared and innovative regulatory agency.
The FCCC has received numerous accolades during Mr. Abraham’s time, including recognition from the Fiji Business Excellence Awards and the National Green Sustainability Award for its regulatory achievements. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs, and Communication, Manoa Kamikamica, praised Mr. Abraham’s contributions, stating that consumers in Fiji are better off due to his prior leadership and dedication.
Commission Chair Isikeli Tikoduadua remarked that Mr. Abraham’s commitment to fair competition and consumer protection has been transformative for the FCCC and assured that his legacy will continue to benefit Fijian consumers for years to come. Looking ahead, Mr. Abraham mentioned plans to pursue a regional role.
This transition marks an important chapter for the FCCC and highlights the critical role effective leadership plays in advancing consumer rights and regulatory excellence. As Mr. Abraham moves on to new endeavors, the foundation he has built will likely help the FCCC continue to thrive and uphold standards that serve the best interests of consumers in Fiji and beyond.
