FICAC Probes Letter Leak Amid Ongoing Investigation into DPM Prasad

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is set to investigate the reported leak of a letter from former acting deputy commissioner Francis Puleiwai, in which he urged that Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad face charges. FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali confirmed that while they will address the leak, the inquiry into Professor Biman is ongoing.

Malimali noted, “We will look into that leak,” and acknowledged the investigations into Deputy Prime Minister Prasad. She expressed her awareness of the inquiries and indicated that they are in the hands of her investigative team.

The Commissioner also mentioned that she has not yet reviewed the case files concerning 17 prominent individuals referred to FICAC. “To be quite honest, some of the case files I have not seen,” she stated. “I have been asking for them, but they have not made it to my desk. However, each referral is currently assigned to our team of investigators, and I will allow them to examine each complaint.”
