FICAC Controversy: Cabinet Set to Unveil Inquiry Commission

The public will soon learn the identities of the members of the Commission of Inquiry (COI) investigating the appointment of FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali and the allegations made by the institute’s former acting deputy commissioner.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced to the media that the Cabinet is scheduled to convene on Tuesday to review a proposal regarding the formation of the commission. He explained that the COI will assess the recent controversies involving FICAC, Malimali, and former acting deputy commissioner Francis Puleiwai.

Rabuka stated that the proposal presented to the Cabinet will include a Terms of Reference and a list of proposed COI members. In response to inquiries, he mentioned that the commission might also consist of international members.
