The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption has decided not to pursue legal action against former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum regarding allegations of violating Section 24 (5) of the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding, and Disclosures) Act 2013. Investigations conducted by FICAC concluded that there was insufficient evidence to establish that Sayed-Khaiyum had committed any violations of the law. On July 24, 2024, FICAC informed the Fijian Elections Office of its intention to close the case related to these allegations. Additionally, FICAC has provided recommendations to the Fijian Elections Office, suggesting areas that need revision and strengthening to avoid similar issues in the future and to enhance clarity and support during investigation processes.
