As the festive season approaches, the Fiji Police Force is ramping up its operations to ensure a safe environment for all. The initiative, which began yesterday, aims to promote personal safety and awareness among the public, as individuals prepare for various celebrations and activities.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the significance of starting these operations early. He noted that increased police presence is intended to remind everyone to prioritize their safety while engaging in festive activities, whether it’s traveling, shopping, or enjoying picnics by the sea. Driu highlighted that safety is a collective responsibility, stating, “Safety starts with each and every individual person.”

The Fiji Police Force is committed to maintaining law and order during this busy season and will work closely with community stakeholders to monitor movements, especially on the roads. The objective is to ensure an incident-free festive period, and ACP Driu is calling on the community to collaborate with the police in preserving public safety. “Police cannot do this alone, and we need your support,” he said.

You can expect to see police officers in towns, cities, on highways, and at various public locations to enhance security and provide assistance. This proactive approach not only aims to keep the festivities enjoyable but also instills a sense of community responsibility.

In summary, the Fiji Police Force is encouraging everyone to stay vigilant and collaborate for a safe festive season, potentially transforming holiday celebrations into joyful and secure gatherings for all. This initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of community engagement in safety efforts, fostering a spirit of togetherness and care during the holidays.
