Festive Season Drug Crackdown: Police Make Multiple Arrests!

Drug enforcement efforts have increased in anticipation of the festive season, aiming to disrupt and destabilize the drug supply chain.

In Savusavu, police conducted drug raids that resulted in the arrest of five suspects found with dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. Additionally, in the Central Division, a man in his 50s was taken into custody at a carrier stand for possessing similar substances.

In Nabua, a 20-year-old man was arrested on Mead Road after he was discovered with several sachets of dried leaves, a plastic bag containing seeds thought to be marijuana, and a zip-lock bag filled with white crystals believed to be methamphetamine.

Furthermore, an 18-year-old man was arrested in Sigatoka Town after police found over 50 dried branches and loose leaves suspected to be marijuana in his possession.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, indicated that operations across the divisions will also emphasize school and community awareness. He highlighted the importance of proactive community policing in mitigating the effects of drug abuse on families and communities. Driu noted that sharing information plays a vital role in supporting law enforcement efforts to curtail the drug supply.
