As the festive season approaches, the Fiji Police Force is ramping up its operations to ensure public safety. The initiative, which commenced yesterday, aims to enhance the visibility of police officers across various environments during this busy time of year.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized the significance of starting these operations early. He noted that this proactive approach serves as a reminder for individuals to prioritize their personal safety while engaging in holiday activities such as shopping, traveling, and enjoying outdoor gatherings.
Driu stated, “Safety begins with each individual,” indicating that while increased police presence is crucial for maintaining law and order, it is equally important for the community to remain vigilant and responsible. He also mentioned that the police would be collaborating with various stakeholders to monitor activities on the roads and throughout the community.
In his message, ACP Driu urged citizens to support the police efforts in ensuring an incident-free festive period. “Police cannot do this alone, and we need your support,” he said, encouraging everyone to be conscious of safety whether at home, on the roads, or in public places.
In addition to visible patrols in towns, cities, and along highways, police will also maintain a presence in communities, picnic areas, schools, and businesses. This increased vigilance aims to promote a secure and enjoyable festive atmosphere for all.
In summary, the Fiji Police Force’s enhanced operations this festive season serve as a reminder for community members to work together for safety and security. By fostering cooperation between the police and the public, the likelihood of a safe and joyful holiday period can be significantly increased. With collective efforts, it can truly be a time of celebration and peace.
