The Vodafone Sugar Festival officially commenced in Lautoka on Saturday night, emphasizing themes of unity and compassion.
Prashant Prasad, Vodafone Fiji’s senior business relationship manager, spoke at the opening and highlighted the festival’s theme, “Charity for the Needy,” emphasizing the importance of community support for those in need. He reiterated Vodafone’s dedication to giving back, describing it as both a responsibility and a privilege.
Mr. Prasad praised the organizers, volunteers, and the local community for their collective efforts in making the festival a reality, noting that their commitment exemplifies the spirit of generosity that the event represents.
“Vodafone Fiji is honored to sponsor the Sugar Festival once again and to be part of a community that values generosity and kindness,” Mr. Prasad stated. He also emphasized the importance of giving back and making a positive impact on the lives of those who need assistance.
“Today, we celebrate the spirit of giving and the strength of our community. This festival is more than just an event; it is a movement. A movement that reminds us that we all have a role to play in supporting those who are struggling. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply raising awareness, every action counts.”
Additionally, Mr. Prasad recognized the contributions of local leaders, businesses, and non-profit organizations, acknowledging their vital role in fostering collaboration and making a meaningful impact in the community.
The week-long festival will culminate next Saturday, featuring six contestants competing for the crown.
