The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) has announced the appointment of Edward Bernard as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective November 11. Edward comes with extensive experience, having worked for over 28 years across the United Nations, the Fiji Government, academia, and the private sector, making him a strong candidate to lead FCEF into the future.
Previously, Edward spent 15 years with the International Labour Organization (ILO), managing the planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of national and regional programs. His background includes engaging in policy dialogues with national tripartite partners and overseeing large teams and budgets while collaborating with private sector employers and organizations.
Edward holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the South Pacific (USP). FCEF President Vinay Narsey expressed enthusiasm about Edward’s appointment, stating, “FCEF is at a pivotal point in its journey, and we are thrilled to welcome Edward as our new CEO. His deep understanding of collaborating with our strategic partners and stakeholders as well as his specialization and experience in private sector development will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for the interests of businesses and employers across Fiji.”
In response to his new role, Edward said, “I am honoured to take on this leadership position at FCEF. I look forward to working closely with our members, partners, the board, and secretariat to drive positive change, enhance the business environment, and contribute to economic growth in Fiji.”
As CEO, Edward plans to strengthen FCEF’s advocacy initiatives, expand membership and services, and promote best practices within the business community. He aims to create a collaborative environment for businesses to flourish, contributing to sustainable development in Fiji.
The FCEF is committed to supporting business growth and improving the employment landscape in Fiji. With Edward Bernard leading the organization, it is set to achieve significant progress toward its mission.
