Having joined the FCCC in 2013 and serving as CEO since 2016, Mr. Abraham’s leadership has been pivotal in shaping a regulatory environment in Fiji that emphasizes fairness, consumer protection, and economic integrity throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
In a media announcement, the commission acknowledged Mr. Abraham as a transformative leader whose commitment to safeguarding consumers has been evident during his tenure. His focused efforts on combatting unfair and unethical business practices have strengthened the commission’s role and recognition as a reliable competition authority both nationally and internationally.
One of his significant contributions was the formation of the Pacific Islands Network of Competition, Consumer Protection, and Economic Regulators (PINCCER), which has fostered collaboration and raised regulatory standards across the Pacific region. Moreover, under his guidance, FCCC implemented various employee-centered initiatives, including the iCARE program and sustainability packages, which contributed to a more adaptable and forward-looking regulatory body.
Mr. Abraham’s leadership also resulted in accolades for FCCC, such as the Fiji Business Excellence Awards and the National Green Sustainability Award, solidifying its reputation as a leading regulatory agency in the region. Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica praised Abraham’s dedication, noting the lasting positive impact on consumers and regulatory standards.
Commission Chair Isikeli Tikoduadua highlighted Mr. Abraham’s efforts in championing fair competition and consumer protection, expressing confidence that his legacy will continue to safeguard consumer interests in Fiji. As he looks ahead to a regional role, Mr. Abraham leaves behind a solid foundation for FCCC to build upon.
