His tenure has been marked by significant efforts to shield consumers from unfair business practices through a robust competition and consumer protection framework.
Under his guidance, the FCCC has expanded its capacity and effectiveness, gaining national and international acclaim as a reliable competition authority. Notably, Mr. Abraham played a crucial role in the formation of the Pacific Islands Network of Competition, Consumer Protection, and Economic Regulators (PINCCER), which has improved regional cooperation and elevated regulatory standards across the Pacific.
His leadership also fostered employee-centered initiatives, including the iCARE program, which focuses on sustainability, as well as implementing flexible work arrangements. Throughout his time at the FCCC, he facilitated critical improvements in infrastructure and resource management that laid the groundwork for a more advanced and equipped regulatory body.
The commission has received numerous accolades during his tenure, including recognition at the Fiji Business Excellence Awards and the National Green Sustainability Award, solidifying its status as a leading regulatory entity in the region.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs, and Communication, Manoa Kamikamica, praised Mr. Abraham for his commitment, stating that consumers are in a better position today due to his leadership. He emphasized that Abraham’s visionary work has fostered collaboration across the Pacific and enhanced regulatory standards, paving the way for a more sustainable economy.
Commission Chair, Isikeli Tikoduadua, echoed similar sentiments, calling Mr. Abraham’s contributions “transformative” for the FCCC, and confident that his legacy will continue to benefit Fijian consumers in the future.
Looking ahead, Mr. Abraham has mentioned plans to pursue a regional role, indicating his ongoing dedication to improving the regulatory landscape in the Pacific.
