The Fijian Broadcasting Corporation will provide exclusive live coverage of the National Schools Age Group Swimming Championships this Friday and Saturday, streaming the two-day event on its Viti+ digital platform in what FBC says is a finalised broadcast arrangement ahead of the meet. The move secures comprehensive digital access for local and overseas audiences to follow one of the nation’s flagship school sporting events in real time.
Coverage will begin at 8:30am on both days, with FBC estimating up to 20 hours of live streaming across the weekend on www.viti.plus. The extended live schedule is designed to capture preliminary heats, finals and medal presentations across the range of age groups, allowing families and supporters unable to attend the venue to watch every race as it happens.
FBC General Manager Television Sitiveni Halofaki said the organisation is “proud to bring it live and exclusively to audiences through Viti+,” underlining the broadcaster’s view of the championships as an important platform for youth development. “This championship is a key platform for our youth, and we are proud to bring it live and exclusively to audiences through Viti+,” Halofaki said, adding that the production team is focused on delivering “a seamless viewing experience that captures the energy and importance of the event.”
Halofaki confirmed that all broadcast rights and operational arrangements had been settled ahead of the championships, with final preparations now under way. FBC described the broadcast as “digital-first,” signalling the corporation’s emphasis on online streaming as a primary means of distribution for major school sports beyond traditional television channels.
The National Schools Age Group Swimming Championships regularly draw top young swimmers from schools across Fiji and are a highlight on the school sports calendar. FBC says the live stream will expand accessibility for spectators both inside the country and abroad, giving relatives and fans overseas the chance to follow races, times and medal outcomes in real time.
The announcement comes amid a broader shift in how sporting events are distributed digitally in Fiji. Earlier coverage of other competitions highlighted how exclusive digital rights deals can leave certain platforms without access; for example, some professional rugby fixtures were made available only via a commercial partner’s app in a previous season. By confirming exclusive streaming on Viti+, FBC has clarified where viewers must go to watch the schools championship and underlined its role in securing digital broadcast rights for grassroots and school-level sport.
Viewers are directed to www.viti.plus for the live streams starting at 8:30am on both days. With broadcast rights and operations cleared, FBC says its teams will focus on production and coverage to ensure the championships are showcased to a wide audience.
