The Tui Nadogo, Ratu Ilisaniti Malodali, is urging villages in Nadogo, Macuata, to limit kava consumption to enable parents to spend more quality time with their children.
Ratu Ilisaniti emphasized the importance of fathers being present at home to supervise their children properly. He stated, “A father figure is essential in a household. It instills discipline in children, and wrongdoings will not be tolerated.”
He noted the necessity of teaching children appropriate behavior and community living through religious values imparted by their parents. “Today’s youth are often distracted by technology and engaged in unhealthy activities, which threaten our village’s legacy of unity, peace, and progress,” he remarked.
Ratu Ilisaniti highlighted that the next decade is crucial in determining if the youth will successfully pursue their futures and take on national responsibilities. He urged young people to pursue education and secure stable employment to prevent falling victim to those who would exploit them for drug trafficking.
In previous discussions, he warned villagers against cultivating marijuana, saying, “Avoid planting such illegal drugs. Instead, focus on legitimate forms of farming to enhance your income.”
With local police advocating for community cooperation, Ratu Ilisaniti called for increased family-level efforts to engage children in both religious and traditional activities.
