A father has been found guilty of sexual offenses against his biological daughter, following a ruling by Justice Sunil Sharma in Lautoka. The court convicted him on two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape stemming from incidents that took place last year and earlier this year.
According to court documents, the father assaulted his daughter on multiple occasions at her grandmother’s house. The first incident occurred as she exited the washroom, prompting her to inform her mother about the harassment. The second incident happened while the father was sleeping in the same room as his daughter along with her siblings, during which he raped her again. The case came to public attention when the eldest sister witnessed the father committing the crime.
Justice Sharma firmly rejected the accused’s defense, stating that the claims of innocence were implausible in light of the evidence presented. He expressed strong disbelief in the accused’s assertions and emphasized the shocking nature of his conduct, noting that it would be deemed indecent by any reasonable person.
This case highlights the judicial system’s commitment to addressing and seeking justice for victims of sexual abuse. It reflects a broader societal effort to confront such grave offenses and to provide support for survivors. The ruling serves not only as a legal decision but also as a message that such crimes will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted accordingly, fostering hope for other potential victims to come forward and seek justice.
