After two successful years of operating her online business, Asma Fareha Khan has taken a step further by opening a retail store to better serve her clients. She is the founder of Asma Fashion Closet, which is situated on the main street of Nadi Town.
Originally from Punjab, India, Ms. Khan possesses in-depth knowledge of fashion, including product ranges and quality. She is married to Manuawar Khan, a well-established IT expert in Nadi.
“It has been our dream to venture into this business,” Ms. Khan expressed. “The modern setup of our store offers customers a cozy and comfortable shopping experience. The concept is designed to make customers feel as if they are in a closet.”
The store features unique and stylish women’s fashion items, including clothing, footwear, jewelry, luxury clutches, handbags, hijabs, and various accessories.
Mr. Khan has identified significant potential for retail in the latest Indian ethnic and Indo-western clothing and accessories in Fiji. He acknowledged, “The market is very competitive in Fiji, but our focus will always be on introducing quality and unique items that are not commonly available here.”
While there are currently no manufacturing facilities in Fiji, some products are customized to ensure they stand out. The Khans have invested approximately $60,000 to set up and stock their showroom, which now employs two staff members. They also have intentions to expand their business by opening additional showrooms in the western division.
