Exclusive: Headman Clarifies Chinese Embassy Funds Mystery for Village Development

The headman of Tiliva Nakasaleka Village, Jale Duikoro, has addressed rumors regarding funds or donations from the Chinese embassy.

Social media allegations suggest that the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, received $172,000 from the Chinese ambassador for a village development project. Last week, Mr. Duikoro clarified that these funds are not connected to Ms. Tabuya.

“The $172,000 is designated for village development purposes, specifically for projects such as path construction and restroom improvements,” Mr. Duikoro stated.

“We are aware of speculations alleging it was a private donation. These funds were managed directly between the Chinese government and the Tiliva Development Committee; they were not received privately by her.”

Yesterday, Ms. Tabuya added, “The village development committee had liaised directly with them, and I was not involved in any way. The process was transparent and straightforward.

“I am not a member of nor involved with the development committee.”
