The excitement is building for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England, where the Vodafone Fijiana XV has been placed in Pool B alongside Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The full match schedule will be revealed soon.
The tournament is set to run from September 7 to October 28, 2025, promising a thrilling series of matches. Alana Thomas, Manager of the FRU Women’s High-Performance Unit, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming competition, highlighting the quality of their pool as a sign of the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji.
“We are thrilled to have our opponents lined up and look forward to representing our country in England next August. This World Cup is expected to be a pivotal moment for women’s rugby,” Thomas stated.
The team recently returned from a tour where they faced Scotland in their first match, which, despite not yielding the desired outcome, provided valuable experience in the context of Six Nations-style rugby.
“The northern tour also allowed us to experience different weather conditions and the challenges of long-distance travel, all of which can impact our performance,” Thomas added.
Having wrapped up their participation in the WXV3 competition in Dubai, the Vodafone Fijiana XV has conducted a review of their performance. They will take a short break before reconvening in November to begin their training.
