A sub-clan in Nadi is experiencing a positive shift in business thanks to government support. Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica presented a new excavator to Tokatoka Namara Development Pte Ltd, which marks a vital development in fostering rural entrepreneurship and sustainability.
The addition of the excavator is expected to significantly alleviate the financial strain on the company while boosting its productivity. Tokatoka Namara has expanded into gravel extraction, utilizing local resources to establish a sustainable venture that benefits the members of Sikituru Village.
Mr. Kamikamica reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring equal opportunities for traditional landowners and commended the local community for their entrepreneurial spirit. He noted that the $78,666.67 investment, provided through the Integrated Human Resource Development Programme, reflects a strong belief in the potential of rural enterprises to stimulate economic growth.
He also addressed the barriers that micro and small businesses face in obtaining financing, emphasizing the government’s intention to explore alternative solutions like small grants and crowdfunding.
The new excavator is poised to enhance operational capabilities, leading to increased production and efficiency, which will ultimately translate into greater economic benefits for the local area. Mr. Kamikamica remarked, “This event is a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of our rural people. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering rural entrepreneurship and building a prosperous future for all Fijians.”
Company director Vilikisa Sayabo expressed gratitude towards the government for their assistance, noting that their business began two years ago with gravel extraction. Previously, they had to rent an excavator, but with government cooperation, they successfully acquired their own. Sayabo highlighted that the new excavator would streamline their operations and significantly increase their revenue.
