Business prospects have significantly improved for a sub-clan in Nadi thanks to government support. Last week, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for External Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications, Manoa Kamikamica, presented a new excavator to Tokatoka Namara Development Pte Ltd in Nadi. This initiative represents a crucial advancement in promoting rural entrepreneurship and sustainable development.

The acquisition of the excavator is expected to alleviate financial pressures on the company while enhancing its productivity levels. The business has successfully diversified into gravel extraction, leveraging local resources to establish a sustainable venture that benefits the members of Sikituru Village.

During the handover, Mr. Kamikamica reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to ensuring equal opportunities for traditional landowners and commended the local community for their successful business establishment. He stated, “This investment of $78,666.67, funded through the Integrated Human Resource Development Programme, reflects our confidence in the potential of rural enterprises to stimulate economic growth.”

He also recognized the difficulties faced by micro and small businesses in securing financing and highlighted the Government’s commitment to developing innovative funding solutions, including small business grants and crowdfunding initiatives.

The introduction of the excavator will improve operational efficiency and production capacity, providing significant economic advantages for the local community. “This event symbolizes the resilience and creativity of our rural populations. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing rural entrepreneurship and paving the way for a prosperous future for all Fijians,” he added.

Company director Vilikisa Sayabo expressed gratitude to the Government for their support. “We established our business two years ago. Through gravel extraction, we purchased a truck, but we have been hiring an excavator from a contractor. This year, with the assistance of the Government, we followed the process and received this machine. This excavator will make our operations easier and potentially double our production, leading to increased revenue,” he explained.
