Ex-Accountant and Partner Granted Bail in Alleged Rugby Fraud Case

A former accountant from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) and his partner have been granted a $2,000 non-cash bail bond. Pawan Deo and Subhashni Mudaliar faced Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza, charged with conspiracy to defraud and obtaining financial advantage. They are accused of unlawfully acquiring $53,788.75 from the FRU and facilitating fraudulent payments of $7,291.83 to Sports Supplies Limited in 2022. The couple has chosen to represent themselves in connection with the charges brought forward by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. The case is set to be resumed on November 5.
