“Ensuring Integrity for Successful Drug Enforcement”

Ba Provincial Council chairman Meli Tora has emphasized the importance of having honest and trustworthy law enforcement officers within the newly established Drugs and Narcotics Bureau.

This statement follows incidents where some officers were found to be involved in drug-related activities.

Mr. Tora maintains that the integrity of these officers is essential for the bureau to effectively address drug issues.

“For the bureau to succeed, it must be staffed with officers who are committed to their duties and can be trusted by the community,” he said.

He added that having reliable and honest officers would help restore public trust and ensure the bureau’s effectiveness in tackling the drug problem.

Mr. Tora also highlighted that the fight against drugs begins at home, calling attention to the role of parents in guiding and supervising their children.

Furthermore, he urged churches and pastors to engage with the youth and visit their homes to address the issue, noting that most of these youths are iTaukei.

“Parents need to take responsibility and be more involved in their children’s lives.”

“Churches and pastors must also play a proactive role in addressing the drug problem within the community.”
