Empowering Youth: Clicks to Progress at Bua Festival

The youth of Bua have received support and empowerment to foster sustainable development through digital innovation. This theme has been the focal point of the week-long Bua Youth Festival.

Launched in conjunction with International Youth Day, the festival brought together youth representatives from the provinces of Bua, Cakaudrove, and Macuata, under the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”

During the festival’s opening ceremony on Tuesday, Youth and Sports Minister Jese Saukuru emphasized the essential role that young people play in shaping the future. “Today not only acknowledges the unique challenges faced by you individuals, but also highlights your pivotal role as key partners in driving positive change,” Mr. Saukuru stated.

Kinijioji Vakawaletabua, an assistant lecturer at the Fiji National University (FNU) and vice president of the Bua Youth Council, underscored the festival’s significance as a platform for youth to connect, learn, and grow. “This event provides an opportunity for young people to showcase their talents, share their ideas, and learn from key stakeholders like FNU about how they can contribute to a brighter future for Fiji,” Mr. Vakawaletabua remarked.

He reiterated the university’s commitment to supporting the aspirations of the province’s youth as a long-standing supporter of the Bua Youth Festival. The festival is set to conclude tomorrow.
