The Women’s Finance Exchange (WFE) launched its ‘Access to Finance Program’ yesterday, designed to empower local women entrepreneurs with vital financial skills and knowledge.
Hosted by Business Assistance Fiji (BAF), the event attracted around 40 enthusiastic women from Suva, all eager to improve their financial literacy. BAF’s general manager, Ramesh Chand, recognized the program’s partners and emphasized its aim to promote financial independence and business growth among women.
“Under the business industry program, we provide various services including climate action sensors, business continuity planning, business health checks, and a range of training sessions,” Mr. Chand remarked during his address.
“When approached to offer this training, we understood its importance. We have conducted sessions on access to finance and finance management, covering critical areas such as budgeting and cash flow while maintaining a clear focus on women entrepreneurs,” he added.
Manita Ray, managing director of Capital Human, and Uzma Altaf, gender specialist at the Asian Development Bank, also shared their perspectives on gender equality in financial access and how the program aligns with larger development objectives.
This two-day training program will concentrate on financial planning, management, and modeling, including sessions on budgeting, cash flow management, financial statement analysis, and understanding finance options with HFC Bank.
