Empowering Women: Unlocking Financial Skills for Entrepreneurs

The Women’s Finance Exchange (WFE) launched its ‘Access to Finance Program’ yesterday, designed to equip local women entrepreneurs with vital financial skills and knowledge.

The event, organized by Business Assistance Fiji (BAF), attracted around 40 women from Suva who were enthusiastic about improving their financial literacy.

BAF general manager Ramesh Chand highlighted the program’s partnership and its objective of promoting financial independence and business development for women.

“Under the business industry program, we have initiatives focused on climate action, business continuity planning, business health assessments, and various training sessions in different areas,” Mr. Chand stated during his address to the attendees.

He emphasized the importance of the training, noting past sessions that covered financial accessibility and management, including budgeting and cash flow, with a specific focus on women entrepreneurs.

Manita Ray, the managing director of Capital Human, and Uzma Altaf, a gender specialist from the Asian Development Bank, also shared their perspectives on gender equality in financial access and how the program aligns with wider development goals.

The two-day training will delve into financial planning, management, and modeling, featuring workshops on budgeting, cash flow management, financial statement analysis, and understanding financing options in collaboration with HFC Bank.
