Empowering Women Through Rugby: Fiji’s $5000 Boost for Bulikula Team

The Ministry of Women has provided a donation of $5,000 to the Fiji Bulikula Women’s Rugby League Team to aid in their preparation for the upcoming 2024 NRL Pacific Championship.

Minister Lynda Tabuya highlighted the significance of promoting respectful and healthy relationships in sports as a crucial measure in combating gender-based violence.

“It is vital to instill the values of respect, healthy relationships, and integrity in our young athletes, both on and off the field,” she stated.

Referencing the well-known words of the late South African president Nelson Mandela about sports having the power to change the world, inspire, and unite people, Ms. Tabuya expressed her belief that the Fiji Bulikula team would not only represent their nation but also act as role models for young women throughout Fiji.

She wished the team success in their preparations and reminded them that the whole country would be cheering them on.
