Boxer Maureen Neumia is encouraging women in the country to embrace the sport of boxing. Neumia, who began her boxing journey in 2019 with support from her husband, Fred Chand, the promoter of South Pacific Boxing Promotion, is passionate about increasing female participation in the sport.
At 37 years old, she has been training rigorously for her upcoming match against Amo Wati on Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. “I’ve been working really hard, and I hope everything goes according to plan in the ring. Training alongside my son has eliminated any challenges I face,” she stated.
Neumia has called on boxing fans to attend the event on Saturday, where three IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Asia Pacific titles will be contested.
