Empowering Women: The Secret to Organizational Success

Emma Low, Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, emphasized the advantages organizations gain from diverse perspectives when women are provided with equal opportunities to lead, contribute, and grow. She made these remarks during a recent trip to Fiji.

While in Fiji, Low discussed the significance of mentorship with the Women of Westpac (WOW) Fiji, which is part of a broader employee action group within the Westpac Group dedicated to helping women realize their full potential.

“Empowering women in the workplace is not merely an issue of fairness – it is vital for encouraging innovation and driving success,” Low stated. She highlighted that more than 60% of Westpac’s workforce is female, with 40% in leadership positions.

Additionally, Westpac proudly signed the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WE-Fi) Code, which launched last month. This initiative seeks to promote financial inclusion and empower female entrepreneurs, aligning well with Westpac’s commitment to supporting education and diversity.

The bank’s focus on gender equality is further demonstrated through its Women and Girls Education Grant program, which has been active for the past 13 years. Over the last decade, Westpac’s financial literacy program has trained more than 39,000 women, and the bank organizes an annual International Women’s Day walk at various locations across the country each year.
