Empowering Women: The Rise of Naqarani’s Collective Efforts

Women’s groups have made significant strides in their development initiatives, as highlighted by Adi Asilika Lalawa, the leader of the women’s organization from Naqarani, Rewa. Despite having started their organizations some time ago, they have not always thrived as expected.

In recent years, these groups have actively participated in the Women Expo, where they have gained valuable insights and resources. This year, their organization has made notable progress. Approximately 30 women from the community are involved, yet only a few organizations are actively supporting them.

Every Monday, these women gather to work on their crafts, and they provide about 50 items to support their organization. They frequently face challenges due to various social issues and negative mindsets, but they remain determined to shift these attitudes and advance their business endeavors.

In terms of support, the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) recently provided assistance to the women, which they expressed gratitude for. A few weeks ago, a team visited the Noco region to address requests for help with tools and other materials.

ADRA emphasized the importance of sustaining their efforts moving forward, as they have been working hard to enhance their capabilities. The assistance includes items for gardening, cooking, and various food products.

Currently, the women are utilizing a piece of land by their community center to cultivate plants and grow food. They also focus on improving their community’s infrastructure, showcasing their strong commitment to helping themselves as they work toward a better future.

While not all women in the community are connected, those who are actively involved in the organizations are benefiting significantly from the support and training provided by ADRA, which helps them enhance their skills and capacities.

The group is being encouraged to continuously develop and utilize their strengths, despite existing challenges. It has been suggested that these organizations could greatly benefit from additional training opportunities and collaboration with other women’s groups to expand their knowledge and skills effectively.
