Empowering Women: The Rise of Community Support in Rewa

Spread the love

Women in Noco, Rewa are making strides in their community work, driven by the leadership of Adi Asilika Lalawa, the leader of the women’s group in Naqarani. The group, which has been active for many years, has not consistently received support like some other organizations.

In recent years, they have participated in the Women Expo, gaining valuable knowledge and skills. This year, they have revitalized their group and are currently composed of 30 dedicated women from the village, although only a few are continuously supported by the organization.

Every Monday, they convene to work on various projects. They also provide 50 seedlings to help support their group’s efforts. Despite facing challenges stemming from different attitudes and beliefs that have previously hindered their progress, they are now striving hard to eliminate these negative perceptions and enhance their business outlook.

Recently, the Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) provided initial support, which the women appreciate. ADRA visited Noco a few weeks ago to assist with the necessary tools and resources. They noted that the women had gathered their products for several months and are ready to market them.

ADRA has provided essential supplies, including vegetables, fruits, and other food items. The women are diligently working to maximize their efforts, aiming to enhance their village and community through better resource management and marketing strategies.

They are utilizing a piece of land located near their community center for cultivation. The support they receive from ADRA has inspired other women’s groups to work collaboratively and improve their living spaces and community engagement.

While not all women are actively engaged, a significant number are stepping up their contributions. The support they receive from ADRA is vital in helping them learn skills and knowledge that can foster better collaboration and communal growth.
