Empowering Women: The Key to Organizational Success

Emma Low, Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, highlighted the benefits organizations experience when women are provided with equal opportunities to lead and contribute during her recent visit to Fiji.

Ms. Low discussed the importance of mentorship at an event with Women of Westpac (WoW) Fiji, a key employee action group dedicated to helping women within the Westpac Group achieve their full potential.

“Empowering women in the workplace is crucial not just for fairness, but also for fostering innovation and driving overall success,” she remarked. She emphasized that when women have equal opportunities, organizations gain diverse perspectives and ideas that are vital for effective problem-solving and creativity. Notably, over 60% of Westpac’s employees are female, with 40% holding leadership positions.

Westpac is also proud to support the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WE-Fi) Code, recently launched to promote financial inclusion and empowerment for female entrepreneurs. This aligns with Westpac’s long-standing commitment to supporting education and diversity within communities.

The bank’s dedication to gender equality is demonstrated by its Women and Girls Education Grant program, active for 13 years, and its financial literacy initiative, which has trained over 39,000 women in the past decade. Furthermore, Westpac organizes an annual International Women’s Day walk in various locations across the country.
