Empowering Women: The Key to Organizational Success

Emma Low, Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, emphasized the importance of equal opportunities for women in organizations during her recent visit to Fiji. She highlighted that diverse perspectives lead to better ideas and solutions, benefiting businesses as a whole.

During her engagement with the Women of Westpac (WOW) Fiji, part of a broader employee initiative focused on empowering women within Westpac, Low discussed the significance of mentorship. She stated that empowering women in the workplace is not merely about fairness but is crucial for innovation and driving success.

Low pointed out that over 60% of Westpac’s employees are female, and 40% hold leadership positions, making gender equity an essential aspect of the company’s culture.

Additionally, Westpac recently signed the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WE-Fi) Code, which aims to support financial inclusion for female business owners. This initiative aligns with Westpac’s commitment to education and diversity.

Westpac has also demonstrated its commitment to gender equality through the Women and Girls Education Grant program, which has been in operation for 13 years. Furthermore, the bank has trained over 39,000 women in financial literacy through its educational programs and hosts an annual International Women’s Day walk across various locations each year.
