Empowering Women: The Key to Organizational Success

Emma Low, Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities for women to lead and grow, stating that organizations gain from diverse perspectives and ideas. She made these remarks during her recent visit to Fiji.

While in Fiji, Ms. Low addressed the significance of mentorship with the Women of Westpac (WOW) Fiji, part of a broader employee initiative aimed at empowering all women within the Westpac Group to achieve their fullest potential.

“Empowering women in the workplace goes beyond fairness; it is vital for driving innovation and success,” Low explained. “When women have equal opportunities to lead, contribute, and develop, organizations reap the benefits of diverse perspectives, which are essential for effective problem-solving and creativity.”

She noted that over 60% of their workforce consists of women, with 40% occupying leadership positions.

As a financial institution, Westpac is proud to be a signatory of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WE-Fi) Code, recently launched to promote financial inclusion and empowerment for female entrepreneurs, which aligns with Westpac’s ongoing commitment to education and community diversity.

Additionally, Westpac’s dedication to advancing gender equality is reflected in its Women and Girls Education Grant program, active for the past 13 years. The bank’s financial literacy program has trained over 39,000 women in the last decade, and it organizes an annual International Women’s Day walk at various locations nationwide.
