Emma Low, the Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, emphasized the advantages organizations gain when women are provided equal opportunities to lead, contribute, and grow. She made these remarks during her recent trip to Fiji.
While in Fiji, Ms. Low discussed the significance of mentorship with the Women of Westpac (WOW) Fiji, a group dedicated to helping women within the organization achieve their full potential. She stated, “Empowering women in the workplace is not just a matter of fairness – it’s essential for fostering innovation and driving success.”
She highlighted that when women are allowed to take on leadership roles and contribute their ideas, organizations can benefit from the diverse perspectives necessary for creativity and problem-solving. Low noted that over 60% of Westpac’s workforce is female, with 40% of those in leadership positions.
Furthermore, Westpac is proud to endorse the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (WE-Fi) Code, launched last month, which seeks to enhance financial inclusion and empowerment for female entrepreneurs. This initiative aligns with Westpac’s ongoing commitment to education and community diversity.
The bank’s dedication to promoting gender equality is reflected in its Women and Girls Education Grant program, active for the past 13 years. Additionally, through its financial literacy program, Westpac has trained more than 39,000 women over the last decade and organizes an annual International Women’s Day walk at various locations nationwide.
