Women, Children, and Social Protection Minister Lynda Tabuya recently presided over an event where 60 women from nine tikinas and the Rewa Disabled Association received certificates from the Pacific Women’s Economic Empowerment Program.
The Certified Training for Women Economic Empowerment workshop took place last week in Nakorovou Village, Dreketi, and focused on enhancing women’s skills in sewing, weaving, and jewelry making.
Joining Ms. Tabuya at the ceremony was Ciara Lee, a contestant in the 2024 Hibiscus Festival, who has maternal ties to Rewa. Ms. Lee shared her journey as a young entrepreneur, highlighting her upbringing under the support of a single mother.
This workshop was part of the Improving Livelihood Opportunities program, which is aligned with the Rewa Strategic Development Plan 2024-2027. The initiative aims to tackle social issues in the villages and lays the groundwork for creating economic opportunities to combat poverty.
