Over 70 women leaders from various sectors gathered for a Women in Corporate Leadership breakfast on Thursday, featuring ANZ New Zealand’s Chief Executive Officer, Antonia Watson. The event was organized by SALT Incorporated Limited, a consultancy based in Suva, under the theme “Evolution of Leaders.”
During her address, Ms. Watson emphasized the significance of having clear values to rely on during challenging leadership moments. Ana Laqeretabua, principal of SALT Inc, expressed appreciation for Ms. Watson’s presence, highlighting the valuable insights and tools she provided to the attendees, which will aid them in overcoming the unique challenges faced by women leaders.
Ms. Watson encouraged the women to embrace authenticity, noting that relatable and genuine leaders are highly valued. Rabih Yazbek, ANZ Fiji’s country head, explained that bringing senior executives to Fiji is part of ANZ’s commitment to the community. He stated that, as part of a global network, ANZ is in a unique position to inspire and support Fiji’s aspiring business leaders through such visits.
This initiative is pivotal for strengthening the relationship between ANZ Fiji and New Zealand, according to Yazbek, who added that Ms. Watson’s discussions with customers, regulators, and stakeholders underline ANZ’s vital role in the Pacific.
Having arrived in Suva after a two-day visit to Apia, Samoa, Ms. Watson’s attendance marks her dedication to engaging with the local business community.
