Following a successful pilot program in Melbourne, Australia, and another in Sydney, KPMG is now launching a two-day Insights Program for university students in Suva, Fiji. This initiative specifically targets women in their final year of university, hosting the event at the KPMG Suva office.
The program focuses on providing potential graduate opportunities within the technology sector. During the pilot in Melbourne, all 30 participants successfully passed their interviews, allowing them to join KPMG’s 2025 AU Vacationer Scheme.
Lisa Apted, managing partner at KPMG Fiji, highlighted that the local program is designed for women pursuing higher education, with 18 KPMG leaders from both Australia and Fiji participating as panellists, mentors, interviewers, presenters, and facilitators.
Apted noted that women represent only 25% of individuals in technical roles, with just 34% of all STEM professionals being women. The aim of “IT’s Her Future” is to improve gender diversity within KPMG, its clients, and the wider community by providing students access to the expertise and experience of KPMG’s technology professionals.
The Insights Program is intended for women exploring potential career paths, especially those who may not have considered technology as an option. Apted emphasized the importance of addressing the under-representation of women in technology, aiming to equip them with the technical knowledge and skills necessary for a career in STEM.
Additionally, the program offers mentorship, networking opportunities, and interview skill development to enhance participants’ professional growth.
