KPMG is hosting a two-day Insights Program in Suva, Fiji, aimed at university women in their final year. Following successful pilot programs in Melbourne and Sydney, the initiative seeks to provide potential graduate opportunities in technology.
The event is taking place at the KPMG Suva office and involves 18 KPMG leaders from both Australia and Fiji, who will serve as panellists, mentors, interviewers, presenters, and facilitators. Lisa Apted, managing partner of KPMG Fiji, emphasized the importance of addressing gender diversity within KPMG and the broader technology sector, where women represent just 25% of technical roles, and only 34% of STEM workers are female.
The Insights Program is designed for women who are contemplating their career paths but may not have considered technology as a viable option. Apted stated that the program aims to provide participants with essential technical knowledge and skills, as well as insight into what a career in STEM can entail for women.
Additionally, the program seeks to enhance career development through mentorship, networking opportunities, and interview skill development, promoting professional growth among participants.
