The Ministry of Women has provided a donation of $5,000 to the Fiji Bulikula Women’s Rugby League Team to aid in their preparations for the upcoming 2024 NRL Pacific Championship. Minister Lynda Tabuya highlighted the significance of promoting respectful and healthy relationships in sports as a crucial measure in combating gender-based violence.
Tabuya stated, “It is crucial that we teach our young athletes the values of respect, having healthy relationships, and integrity, both on and off the field.” Quoting the late South African president Nelson Mandela, she emphasized that sports possess the ability to change the world, inspire individuals, and unite communities.
She expressed confidence that the Fiji Bulikula team would not only represent their nation but also become role models for young women throughout Fiji. Tabuya extended her best wishes to the team during their preparations, reminding them that the whole nation stands behind them.
