Empowering Women in Sports: $5000 Boost for Fiji Bulikula Rugby Team

The Ministry of Women has contributed $5,000 to the Fiji Bulikula Women’s Rugby League Team to assist them in their preparations for the upcoming 2024 NRL Pacific Championship.

Minister Lynda Tabuya highlighted the significance of promoting respectful and healthy relationships in sports as a crucial measure in combating gender-based violence.

“It is essential to instill in our young athletes the values of respect, healthy relationships, and integrity, both on and off the field,” she stated.

Referencing the renowned words of late South African president Nelson Mandela, Ms. Tabuya noted that sports have the potential to change the world, inspire, and unite people. She expressed her belief that the Fiji Bulikula team will not only represent their country but also act as role models for young women throughout Fiji.

She extended her best wishes to the team in their preparations and reminded them that the entire nation stands behind them, offering support and encouragement.
