Women in Naqarani, Rewa, are making significant strides in their endeavors, as highlighted by the president of the local women’s group, Adi Asilika Lalawa. Their organization, which has been active for many years, is gaining momentum and support, especially through participation in the Women Expo held annually, where they learn valuable skills.
This year, around 30 women have been actively engaged in community projects, with some groups receiving assistance from their local organizations. Every Monday, they gather to work on their handcrafts, receiving support that includes essential supplies to boost their initiatives.
Despite facing various challenges, the women are determined to overcome outdated beliefs that have previously held them back. They are now working hard to shift these perceptions and focus on enhancing their entrepreneurial skills.
The Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) has also stepped in to provide initial support, which has been well-received. Recently, ADRA visited the Noco area and offered assistance, particularly materials for agricultural projects and other essential items.
The women have shown remarkable resilience, having recovered from setbacks over the past few months, particularly in maintaining their gardens and nutritious food supplies. With a dedicated effort to improve their living conditions and community resources, they are positioning themselves for greater success.
A piece of land has been designated near their community center, which they are currently developing. This initiative includes plans for a greenhouse and additional resources to support their agricultural efforts and enhance their community’s overall wellbeing.
As they navigate the complexities of improving their livelihoods, it is noted that not all women are equally involved. However, those actively participating are demonstrating the potential for significant progress, with a strong commitment to learning and collaboration as they work to achieve their goals together.
