The two-day Police Women’s Netball and Volleyball Inter-formation tournament concluded with a celebratory dinner led by Senior Advisor Mark Pakes, the team leader of the New Zealand Police Fiji Partnership Programme.
The event celebrated the tournament’s winners while also honoring the resilience and advancement of women in policing, centered around the theme “Transforming Mindset for Progress.” In his speech, Pakes highlighted the importance of self-care alongside professional responsibilities, stating, “You owe it to yourself to seek balance, to engage in things that re-energize you and build supportive networks.” He stressed that self-care is crucial for delivering exceptional service to others.
Pakes encouraged officers to support one another and to recognize the strength that can be found in vulnerability. The Southern Division emerged victorious, clinching the titles for both the 2024 Netball and Volleyball Police Inter-formation competitions.
The tournament showcased not just athletic prowess but also a shared dedication to personal and professional development within the police force.
