The two-day Police Women’s Netball and Volleyball Inter-formation tournament wrapped up with a celebratory dinner, led by Mark Pakes, Senior Advisor and team leader of the New Zealand Police Fiji Partnership Programme.
The event celebrated the tournament winners while also acknowledging the resilience and advancement of women in policing, under the theme “Transforming Mindset for Progress.” In his speech, Pakes stressed the importance of officers prioritizing self-care along with their professional responsibilities.
“You owe it to yourself to seek balance, to engage in things that re-energize you and build supportive networks,” he stated, highlighting that self-care is vital for delivering quality service to others. Pakes urged officers to empower one another and recognize the strength that lies in vulnerability.
The Southern Division emerged victorious, claiming both the 2024 Netball and Volleyball Police Inter-formation championships. The tournament showcased not only sporting achievements but also a collective dedication to personal and professional development within the force.
