The Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, paid a visit to the Veidehi Women’s Club within the Nabekavu Indian Community in Labasa. During her visit, she presented essential kitchen items aimed at empowering local women, fostering their collective advancement within the community.
This initiative is part of the Coalition Government’s continued commitment to promoting gender equity, equality, social justice, and sustainable development, with the goal of uplifting women and children throughout Fiji.
While interacting with the members of the women’s group, Kiran heard expressions of gratitude for the assistance provided. It was highlighted that all members of the Veidehi Women’s Club benefit from social protection scheme allowances, underscoring the government’s dedication to supporting vulnerable communities.
Assistant Minister Kiran emphasized the significance of investing in women, stating, “When we invest in women—whether through kitchenware or broader policies—we create a positive ripple effect. Their economic contributions circulate, benefiting families, neighborhoods, and society at large. As we celebrate this equipment handover, let’s recognize that women’s empowerment isn’t just about the present; it’s an investment in a brighter, more equitable future.”
The Veidehi Women’s Club serves an important function in the community, offering a space for women to unite, share skills, and support each other.
